Privacy notice

Who this applies to

This notice is for people who use handld.it: homeowners sending an enquiry, and anyone else who visits the site. It covers the air-conditioning quote form we run on Teesside and the pages around it.

It is written for this site as it works today. It is not a generic template padded with details we do not have.

Who we are

Handld.it is a website that matches homeowners with suitable local service providers. We are not an air-conditioning installation company. We do not quote for, survey or carry out installation work.

The operator behind Handld.it has not published a registered company name, registered address or ICO registration number on this site. Until those details are confirmed, treat Handld.it as the service named on these pages, and use the contact page for privacy questions.

What we collect

The enquiry form asks for the information we need to match you with an installer and for them to get back to you:

Contact details

First name, phone number and email address.

Where the job is

Your UK postcode, which we use to see who covers your area.

Job details

The room or rooms, how many rooms, the property type, your timescale, and any extra notes you choose to add.

Photos

Up to four optional photos of the space. You do not have to send any.

Consent

The tick box that says you want us to pass the enquiry to a suitable local installer, and the time you ticked it.

When you submit the form we also receive a small amount of technical information used to run the service: the page you sent it from, a short-lived form token, an idempotency key so a double-tap does not create two enquiries, and the IP address of the connection (used to limit abuse).

If you arrived from an advert or campaign, the browser may also keep attribution data such as click IDs, UTM tags, the landing page and the referrer. That record stays in your browser for up to 90 days and is sent with the enquiry so we can see which visit led to it. Names, emails, phone numbers, postcodes, free-text notes and photos are not sent to analytics.

Why we use it

We use enquiry details to:

• work out which local installer covers your postcode and can take that kind of job;
• pass your enquiry to that installer so they can contact you by phone, text or email;
• tell you if we cannot find anyone covering your area;
• keep the form working, stop spam and prevent the same enquiry being sent twice;
• understand, without using your personal details, which pages and campaigns lead to enquiries.

The main basis for passing your details to an installer is the consent you give on the form. Running the site, stopping abuse and keeping a record of the enquiry is what we need to do to provide the matching service you asked for.

We do not sell your details for unrelated marketing.

Who we share it with

We share an enquiry with the selected local installer or installers we think can take the job. They then contact you themselves. After that, any quote, survey or contract is between you and them, and they become responsible for how they use the details we passed on.

We also use hosting and, when they are configured, email or webhook services to receive the site and to send the enquiry onwards. Those providers only see what they need to do that job.

We may share information if the law requires it.

How long we keep it

We keep enquiry details for as long as we need them to match you, pass the job on, answer a follow-up and deal with a problem with that enquiry. We do not keep them indefinitely, and we do not keep photos longer than we need to pass the enquiry on.

Attribution data in your browser is stored for up to 90 days. A session identifier is kept only for that browser session.

We have not published a fixed numbered retention period because the service is still an MVP. If you want your enquiry deleted sooner, ask us using the contact page.

Cookies and similar storage

The site uses the browser’s own storage to keep the matching service working:

• a session identifier, so events from one visit can be tied together without using your name;
• an attribution record (campaign tags and landing page), kept for up to 90 days;
• a short-lived form token, so the enquiry can be accepted.

Analytics and advertising cookies are only loaded if tracking IDs are configured. Those IDs are empty on the public site today, so Google tags are not loaded. If they are added later, advertising and analytics storage stay denied until consent is given. There is no cookie banner on the site at the moment because those tags are not active.

Your rights

Under UK GDPR you can ask us to:

• give you a copy of the personal data we hold about you (access);
• correct it if it is wrong;
• delete it;
• restrict or object to how we use it;
• provide it in a portable form, where that right applies;
• withdraw the consent you gave on the form, for future use by us. Withdrawal does not undo sharing that has already happened with an installer.

You can also complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) if you are unhappy with how your data has been handled. We have not published an ICO registration number because one is not listed in this project.

How to contact us about privacy

Use the contact page. There is no public privacy email or phone number on this site yet. If you use the enquiry form for a privacy request, say so in the details so it is not treated as an installation quote.

If we have already passed your enquiry to an installer, you may also need to contact them about the copy they hold.

Changes to this notice

If the way we collect or use information changes, we will update this page and the date at the top. The version here is the current one.
